About Our School

Joie en Cuisine was founded in 2026 by Evelyn Schichner and Lilly Milman. Our philosophy is simple: There should always be joy in your kitchen, even when it comes to learning complex French recipes. Our in-person classes prioritize learning technique and understanding the why and how of French cuisine. Bakers of all levels are welcome to come learn, eat, and enjoy, whether it’s your first time holding a rolling pin or your hundredth.

When you come to one of our in-person classes, you will have the unique opportunity to create classic French recipes with your own twist. We offer an intimate experience in a small, boutique cooking school located in the heart of Boston’s fashionable South End neighborhood. Our intentionally small classes allow for hands-on training and dedicated one-on-one instruction.

We’d love to meet you — sign up for a class now!

Hear From Our Students

  • “The communication in the class was excellent. The instructor gave detailed explanations and demonstrations — she was a wealth of information. I left class with perfect Parisian macarons. It was my first time ever making them and Evelyn made it seem simple!”
  • “Evelyn was very engaging and eager to share her recipes. She went at a good pace, too — not too slow as we were able to get everything in, but not so fast that I felt left behind or was struggling to catch up.”
  • “Just took an incredible tarts class with Evelyn and Lilly in the South End. They made the process feel so easy and approachable. It’s really hard to strike the right balance in baking classes between watching the instructor do something and trying it yourself, and they nailed it. Plus, the kitchen itself was both beautiful and functional, and I loved all the thoughtful touches — the embroidered apron and heart tart pan we got to take home, the gorgeous boxes for our pastries… Can’t wait to take many more classes with Joie en Cuisine.”
